Week 2 Picks!

Sorry, due to a hectic school schedule I was late getting this done and I wasn’t able to break down all the games. I’ll try to get it done earlier next week and post a decent break down for each game.

Central Michigan at No. 2 Georgia

Breakdown

Even if Moreno is unable to play in this game the Bulldogs shouldn’t be hurt much. Freshman Caleb King ran for almost 100 yards last week and should see a lot of action again against the Chippewas. Although the Chippewas are severely outclassed, they are not without threats. QB Dan LeFevour’s career rating is over 140 and he has completed more than 64% of his passes. He’ll most likely get a chance to play on Sundays in the future at being up against the #2 team in the country is a stage on which he’d like to shine. All that being said I still think Georgia will win. Maybe not by a huge margin but look for the Bulldogs to pull it out.

Pwndy’s Pick

Georgia by a couple of TDs

Ohio at No. 3 Ohio State

Breakdown

No need for a breakdown here…

Pwndy’s Pick

OSU in a major blowout

Cincinnati at No. 4 Oklahoma

Breakdown

Cincy isn’t a bad team but they don’t compare to the Sooners either offensively or defensively.

Pwndy’s Pick

The Sooners win big

Miami (FL) at No. 5 Florida

Breakdown

Florida is now the top dog in the state and Miami is not looking good.

Pwndy’s Pick

Gators win big

Southeast Missouri State at No. 6 Missouri

Breakdown

No need for a breakdown here…

Pwndy’s Pick

Mizzou wins big

No. 8 West Virginia at East Carolina

Breakdown

This is an interesting game and though I’d like to pick ECU to repeat last week’s upset I don’t see it happening.

Pwndy’s Pick

Mountaineers win by two or three TDs.

Southern Miss at No. 9 Auburn

Breakdown

Auburn’s offense has been struggling while their defense is strong. That strength will get a test as the Golden Eagles roll into the Plains with a potent offense.

Pwndy’s Pick

Auburn should win this though not as big as their fans would like

No. 10 Texas at UTEP

Breakdown

No need for a breakdown here…

Pwndy’s Pick

Texas will romp over the Miners

Marshall at No. 11 Wisconsin

Breakdown

Badgers are a tough team while Marshall is a couple of years away from being a good mid-major again.

Pwndy’s Pick

Wisconsin runs to victory by three TDs.

No. 12 Texas Tech at Nevada

Breakdown

Mike Leech will throw the ball all over Nevada. Look for Harrell and Crabtree to have a great time breaking in the Wolfpack’s new defensive scheme.

Pwndy’s Pick

Red Raiders win big

Tulane at No. 13 Alabama

Breakdown

No need for a breakdown here…

Pwndy’s Pick

Crimson Tide build on their big upset last week by blowing out a bad Green Wave team.

Louisiana Tech at No. 14 Kansas

Breakdown

Though I’d like to see the Bulldogs pull off another upset I don’t see it happening against the Jayhawks.

Pwndy’s Pick

Kansas wins by twenty

Stanford at No. 15 Arizona State

Breakdown

The Sun Devils want to prove they are worthy of challenging USC at the top of the PAC 10, to do it they need to defeat the team that pulled off a miracle in upsetting the Trojans last season.

Pwndy’s Pick

Arizona State in a blowout

No. 15 Brigham Young at Washington

Breakdown

Jake Locker and Ty Willingham need this win, one to prove he’s a big time QB and the other to keep his job. BYU needs to win this game to keep their BCS Buster hopes alive.

Pwndy’s Pick

BYU wins a close game

No. 17 South Florida at UCF

Breakdown

South Florida wants to continue their success of last season but the UCF Knights stand in their way.

Pwndy’s Pick

UCF in a close upset

Utah State at No. 18 Oregon

Breakdown

Oregon wishes they still had Dennis Dixon but they shouldn’t need him for this game.

Pwndy’s Pick

Oregon wins big

Oregon State at No. 19 Penn State

Breakdown

The Beavers just aren’t a very formidable foe for Joe Pa and Happy Valley.

Pwndy’s Pick

Joe Pa doesn’t need his pot smoking players as the Lions roll in this game.

Mississippi at No. 20 Wake Forest

Breakdown

Houston Nutt has his hands full with this non-conference opponent. Wake has a very good team who is going to contend for the ACC title and should give Ole Miss a run for their money. The Rebels have a good QB in Jevan Snead and some good WRs but are not very good at scoring the ball. Their defense should be better than their 88th ranking last year. Wake Forest has an extremely efficient QB in Riley Skinner who led the nation with 72.4% completion ratio. The Demon Deacon’s defense was pretty good last year and should be much better this season as they return 9 starters. Look for Wake to have success in throwing the ball and shutting down Ole Miss’ offense with their efficient 3-4 defense.

Pwndy’s Pick

Wake wins a close one

UNLV at No. 22 Utah

Breakdown

Utah proved they were a force to reckon with in beating Michigan last week and look to continue that.

Pwndy’s Pick

Utes win big

No. 24 South Carolina at Vanderbilt

Breakdown

Steve Spurrier has announced that Chris Smelley will be the starter at QB against Vanderbilt based on his performance in last week’s game. The Commodores actually have the edge at quarterback with Chris Nickson who is solid throwing the ball but a real threat running. If Vandy can keep Smelley under pressure by busting through a very porous O-line you could see the first back to back wins over an SEC school for them in a long time. SC’s defense was really the star of last week’s game and kept the focus off of their offensive struggles. Expect this to be a very low scoring game; first team with three touchdowns wins.

Pwndy’s Pick

I have a feeling that SC’s defense isn’t gonna be able to stop Nickson.

Vandy wins in an upset.

*note I had this pick done BEFORE the game on Thursday

Eastern Illinois at No. 24 Illinois

Breakdown

Juice Williams and his running mates get to take out their frustration of losing their opener on the helpless Panthers.

Pwndy’s Pick

Lots of points scored in this game…all for the Illini
